Unmissable Landes visits

With a superb natural and cultural heritage, the Landes includes many unmissable visits. Take advantage of your stay to visit the Hydroaviation Museum located north of the Biscarrosse et Parentis pond. Continue your discovery of the department at the Museum of Traditions in Biscarrosse, at the ecomuseum of Marquèze in Sabers then push the doors of the Notre-Dame cathedral in Dax. Another must-see: the Contis lighthouse, the only lighthouse in the Landes. Nature lovers, then take a walk in the Aureilhan pond and discover the rich biodiversity of the Courant d'Huchet nature reserve, then visit the Labenne zoo. Finally, enjoy the beaches of the Landes by taking a trip to Espécier beach in Mimizan.

What activities to do in the Landes?

Territory renowned for its exceptional coastline and pine forests, the Landes are conducive to many activities. You can take surf lessons with a Quality Tourism certified school such as the French surf school Max Respect in Saint-Julien-en-Born or Kiwi Surf in Biscarrosse Plage. With All water in Mimizan or Yak Océan in Sanguinet, enjoy a trip on the water in a Hawaiian canoe. Indulge in paddle with All Water in Aureilhan. With Canoë Aventures in Saint-Paul-en-Born or the Cercle Nautique de Mimizan, go down the river in a canoe-kayak. Lovers of cycling in the great outdoors can rent a bike from Cycle Loisirs Boulevard in Port Navarosse or Cyclo Land in Mimizan. Other activities: tree climbing with Bias Aventure and Park Land Aventure in Mimizan or a round of golf at the Biscarrosse or Mimizan club.

What Landes gastronomic specialties to savor?

Impossible to visit the Landes without enjoying its gastronomy: foie gras, duck breast and confit of duck, labeled chicken, Chalosse beef, asparagus from the sands, Landes salad, salmon and kiwi from the Adour, Landes pastis, tourtière, Dax madeleines... To taste these culinary delights from the South-West washed down with a dash of Armagnac, floc de Gascogne or a glass of Tursan wine, go to the restaurant La Taverne in Mimizan (€14 to €19 a dish). Also in Mimizan, Ô Courant offers duck breast marinated in mulled wine (€15 to €40 on average for the menu). At Bistrot Jeanot in Pontenx-les-Forges, you can taste a terrine of duck confit and foie gras (count €13 to €35).

If you are spending your weekend in the Landes as a couple, choose fully equipped accommodation for 2 people with one bedroom (from €43 per night out of season). Green pitches of around 100 m² with access to electricity and separated by hedges for more privacy, are also available (from €17 per night).
